# About Me

{% hint style="danger" %}
This blog is a now an archive. I have made a new blog at [www.crow.rip](https://www.crow.rip), and will begin migrating some of the content here over to it.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %} The information you gather from this blog, all the techniques, proofs-of-concept code, or whatever else you may find here, are *strictly* for educational purposes. I do not condone using anything you might gather from this blog or my videos for malicious and unauthorized purposes.
{% endhint %}

I'm a "[YouTuber](https://www.youtube.com/@crr0ww)" who primarily focuses on cyber-security education and research. My main interests are red teaming, offensive development, operating system internals, and reverse engineering. I'm currently learning Japanese[^1] and a couple of [other languages](#user-content-fn-2)[^2]. Some of my "hobbies" include: casually falling in love with Intel syntax, professionally getting nauseous at AT\&T syntax, spending an insane amount of time ricing random stuff that no one cares about, shadowboxing Windows Defender, and obsessively thumbing through SDMs.

{% hint style="success" %}
It's crucial to note that I'd be *nothing* without the guidance, mentorship, help, and constant reassurance from all of these incredibly amazing people who I'm so lucky to get to call my friends: [zetty](https://www.newsweek.com/americas-best-nursing-homes-2022), [lavender](https://github.com/Lavender-exe), [x0reaxeax](https://www.youtube.com/@x0reaxeax), [5pider](https://twitter.com/C5pider), [rektsu](https://twitter.com/rektsu1337), aqua[^3], [bakki](https://twitter.com/shubakki), and *so many* more.
{% endhint %}

My hope with this blog is that by being a beginner myself, I'll create content in which *nothing* is overlooked and novice questions are not just asked but welcomed, researched, and hopefully answered ad nauseam. I've made this blog and the accompanying YouTube videos to consolidate *my* learning by [teaching it to the world](#user-content-fn-4)[^4]. Also, please click [here](#my-socials) for an important message. With that said and done, welcome to my own personal hellscape. Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'entrate.

## FAQ

I could rant forever, but answers to some common questions I've seen floating around (not even necessarily directed toward me, but it's just a matter of time before I start getting them) can be found in the expandable section below.

FAQ

#### What's the point of making a blog about malware development when sites like ired.team, vx-underground, etc. already exist?

Respectfully, I think this way of thinking is fundamentally flawed *and toxic*. Firstly, I'm not trying to "replace", "overthrow", or "usurp" these sites—I don't even think that's possible and even if it were, I'd *never* want to. I look up to (and have learned a great deal from) many of these guys, after all.

Everyone in the field already knows how great these sites are, and I even mention them (and more *like* them) **all the time**. You shouldn't just solely use my blog alone to learn malware development. I've already said this in a blog post but I'll reiterate it here: treat malware development (and hacking in general) like learning a new language. When you learn a new language, you should use multiple resources because one resource might go over something that another might not. One might be easier to consume than the other, or whatever the case is.

I try my best to include other resources for you to look at in the "references" section of a blog post, but the point still stands, at some point you will/should do your due diligence and seek out other resources. I also strongly disagree that you should/can *only* make a post, GitHub repository, video, talk, or whatever *if* and *only if* you've made some discovery, authored a new technique/exploit, or whatever.

I think that "stance" (if you can even call it that) is *incredibly* gatekeeper-y and narcissistic. I've met far too many people who've let their egos consume them enough to unironically champion this belief and impose it on everyone they see as lesser than themselves (which surprise, surprise, is almost everyone they talk to or come across). If you're a noob (like me), I highly urge you to document your notes in a manner in which you're attempting to [teach someone these techniques](https://fs.blog/feynman-technique/) or whatever you're learning (it can be *any* topic you want). Better yet, make your own blog posts as well!

Lastly, a much-needed reminder: be nice *and* welcoming to the newcomers. *Nobody* likes rude, egotistical, snarky, dork-ass losers who have nothing better to do than shit on novices all the time. If this has happened to you, take solace (or hell, take pity even, if you're *especially* sympathetic) in knowing these people are *undoubtedly* miserable and bitter. They lash out at others because they *genuinely* have nothing better to do or because it's a symptom of something *much* more severe.

There's nothing wrong with *you*—*They're* choosing to act/respond the way *they* do. Don't let it affect you. Further, no matter how inflated their sense of skill or ego, don't compare yourself to these people. We all know how undesirable they are. And, whatever they might have in technical skills, they're atrophied in soft skills.

Don't idolize them. In reality, they're scared little parasites who feel the need to puff out their chest to portray some sort of strength—which they lack (and probably have for quite some time now). Secretly, they crave your adulation and attention. Without it, they're in limbo. Talking about "noobs" again, of course, *some* newcomers don't *actually* care about learning. Still, for those who are *genuinely intrigued* by all of this and *genuinely* trying to learn, **a single bad interaction can completely rob them of that feeling**—turning that initial wonder and intrigue into dread and shame. Why would you want to do that to someone?

To the rest of you, keep on doing your thing and continue growing and documenting your progress; for yourself and others to follow in your footsteps—to learn from you like you've learned from others. Be a small[^5], but very present cog in the perpetual learning machination. You might not have had anyone say this to you lately but I'm *very* proud of you and expect to see much, *much* more from you. Keep it up! :heart:

#### **Will you *****only***** talk about malware development in this blog?**

No. I want this blog to be an externalization of everything I've learned—like a refined obsidian vault, where I publish my notes or things I'm currently learning (who knows, the posts I *especially* like might even get a video adaptation). Malware development *has* taken over my life lately, but I also enjoy the other kinds of lower-level hacking/mechanisms, so you'll mainly find content geared toward that. Binary exploitation, malware development, and hopefully soon: malware analysis, digital forensics, active directory, hardware hacking, operating system internals, etc., are things you can expect to find in this blog of mine (*eventually*).

#### What fonts and themes are you using?

All the fonts and themes I've used which have been shown in the videos or blog posts are as follows:

#### **Where can I reach you?**

If you've found an error or something that needs attention with the blog, etc., you can reach me on any of the socials that you can find in [About Me](/nest/general/whoami.md), or if you hover over "My Socials" on the top right of the blog. If you need to email me, you can reach me at: `crow@crow.rip`. Please note that I'm incredibly slow to respond, so if you sent me a message or email and I haven't responded, that's why.

* For business inquiries, however, you can reach me at: `jobs@crow.rip`.

## My Socials

{% hint style="danger" %}
My *only* socials are listed below and in the "[support the channel](/nest/support/ilysm.md)" section. Anyone contacting you with *any* other handle than these is not me and is trying to scam/coerce you by impersonating me or my platform(s). If you stumble across someone impersonating me, my website, or something of that sort, it's best to: report, block, and move on. It's an ultra-deranged and perma-strange world out there. And though I wish more could be done to prohibit these weird, parasocial, adversarial transgressions, I can offer only whispers: stay safe and be vigilant.
